Holistic Learning

Project-Based Work

Learning by doing—exploring real-world themes through hands-on projects inspired by local surroundings.

Project-based work is the cornerstone of our academic approach. Instead of studying subjects in isolation, our learners engage in interdisciplinary projects that require them to apply mathematics, language, and science to real-world situations.

Deep Inquiry

Each project begins with a central question or a community need. Learners then go through a cycle of planning, research, implementation, and reflection. Recent projects have included:

  • The River Study: An exploration of the Mandakini River, involving water testing, documenting local biodiversity, and interviewing elders about historical changes in the river's flow.
  • Solar Cooking: Designing and building solar cookers while learning about renewable energy, angles of reflection, and thermal properties of materials.
  • Traditional Architecture: Studying the design and construction of local stone houses to understand earthquake resilience and sustainable building practices.

Skill Integration

"Through hands-on projects, learners build skills in planning, research, teamwork, and initiative. It transforms abstract concepts into tangible understanding."

Collaborative Learning

Most projects are collaborative, requiring learners to work in teams. This fosters essential social skills such as effective communication, conflict resolution, and mutual support. By the end of a project, the group often presents their findings to the community, closing the loop between learning and social contribution.
